2. Gwener / Venus

Gwener

  • Gwener yw’r ail blaned o’r Haul gyda diwrnod yn cymryd mwy na blwyddyn.
  • Y blaned ddisgleiriaf yn yr awyr, weithiau’n cael ei galw’n seren yr hwyr neu’r seren fore
  • Mae Gwener yn debyg i’r ddaear, weithiau’n cael ei galw’n ‘chwaer blaned’
  • Yn troi’n anhygoel o araf, gan gymryd 243 o ddiwrnodau daear i gwblhau un cylchdro, ond mae’n cylchdroi o gwmpas yr haul mewn dim ond 225 diwrnod, felly mae ei diwrnod yn hirach na’i blwyddyn!
  • Y blaned boethaf yng nghysawd yr haul (467 gradd C ar yr wyneb!) oherwydd atmosffer trwchus a gweithgaredd folcanig gan greu effaith tŷ gwydr
  • Dim ond maes magnetig gwan sydd ganddi, felly mae’n bosib bod ganddi graidd soled
  • Dim gogwydd – dim tymhorau
  • Weithiau hefyd yn cael ei galw’n seren yr hwyr neu neu’r seren fore gan ei bod fel arfer yn weladwy yn agos at yr haul wrth iddi godi a machlud
  • Dim lleuadau
  • Dim ond 225 diwrnod i fynd o gwmpas yr Haul, felly mae ei diwrnod yn hirach na’i blwyddyn!
  • Troi’n wrthsymudol
  • Cylchdro eliptig
  • Planed agosaf at y ddaear
  • 467 gradd Celsius ar yr wyneb
  • Glaniad cyntaf ar blaned arall (nid y lleuad) yn 1966
  • Llawer o glorin a sylffwr yn yr atmosffer, yn ogystal â CO2 a nitrogen
  • Atmosffer poeth asidig trwchus gyda mellt
  • Dim ond am tua 2 awr y parhaodd y llongau archwilio’r gofod a lwyddodd i oroesi ar ôl glanio drwy’r atmosffer gelyniaethus
  • Enwyd ar ôl y dduwies Rufeinig o gariad a harddwch(Venus)

Sut y cafodd ei gwneud:

Ail-grëwyd y blaned hon o ganiau coch, oren a porffor wedi ailgylchu a’u cywasgu a’i siapio, gan yr artist Rachel Rosen a phlant Ysgol Manod, Blaenau Ffestiniog, i adlewyrchu wyneb poeth a sgleiniog y blaned.

Venus

Venus is the second planet from the Sun with a day taking longer than its year.

  • Brightest planet in the sky, sometimes called the evening or morning star
  • Venus is similar size to earth, sometimes called our ‘sister planet’
  • Spins incredibly slowly taking 243 earth days to complete one rotation, but it’s orbit around the sun is only 225 days, so it’s day is longer than it’s year!
  • Hottest planet in solar system (467 degrees C at the surface!) due to thick atmosphere and volcanic activity creating a runaway greenhouse effect
  • Only has a weak magnetic field so possibly has a solid core
  • No tilt on its – no seasons
  • Also sometimes called evening star or morning star as it is usually visible close to the sun as it rises and sets
  • No moons
  • Only takes 225 days to go round the Sun so it’s day is longer that’s its year!
  • Retrograde spin
  • Elliptical orbit
  • Closest planet to earth
  • 467 degrees Celsius at the surface
  • First landing on another planet (not the moon) in 1966
  • Lots of chlorine and sulphur in the atmosphere, as well as CO2 and nitrogen
  • Thick hot acidic atmosphere with lightning
  • Space explorer vessels that have survived the descent through the hostile atmosphere have only lasted at most 2 hours at the surface
  • Named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty

How it was made:

This planet has been re-created out of squashed and riveted cans, in red and orange by the artist Rachel Rosen and children of Ysgol Manod, Blaenau Ffestiniog, to reflect the planet’s very hot and shiny surface.
