3. Y Ddaear / Earth

Y Ddaear

  • Y Ddaear yw’r drydedd blaned o’r Haul a’r fwyaf o’r planedau daearol.
  • Yr unig blaned sy’n cynnal bywyd, hyd y gwyddom.
  • Planed fwyaf drwchus yng nghysawd yr haul, gyda chraidd o nicel a haearn
  • Mae dŵr yn gorchuddio 70% o’r arwyneb
  • Troi unwaith ar ei hechel mewn 24 awr, (ond mae yn arafu!) ac mae gogwydd yr echel yn rhoi ein tymhorau i ni
  • Daearegol weithgar
  • Ychydig o geudyllau ar ei wyneb
  • Mae’r atmosffer yn helpu i’w gwarchod rhag effeithiau’r Haul
  • Mae maes magnetig pwerus hefyd yn helpu i ddiogelu’r blaned
  • Craidd o haearn a nicel
  • Dŵr nad oedd yn wreiddiol ar yr wyneb, ond wedi codi yno trwy weithgaredd daearegol
  • Dim ond un lleuad
  • Yn gogwyddo ar ei hechel sy’n arwain at y tymhorau
  • Ychydig iawn o geudyllau sydd, ond y rhain yn cael eu newid gan brosesau daearegol
  • Ocsigen yn yr atmosffer yn cael ei greu gan blanhigion h.y. ffotosynthesis

Sut y cafodd ei gwneud:

Cafodd y blaned hon ei hail-greu yma o blastig glas a byrddau cylched gwyrdd wedi’u hailgylchu gan yr artist Rachel Rosen a disgyblion Ysgol Uwchradd Ysgol y Moelwyn, Blaenau Ffestiniog, i gynrychioli effaith llygredd a thechnoleg dynol ar y Ddaear.

Earth

  • Earth is the third planet from the Sun and is the largest of the terrestrial planets.
  • Only planet known to sustain life
  • Densest planet in the solar system, with a core of nickel and iron
  • 70% of the surface is covered by water
  • Spins once on its axis in 24 hours, (but is slowing down!) and the tilt of its axis gives us our seasons
  • Geologically active
  • Few impact craters
  • Atmosphere helps to protect it from effects of the Sun
  • Powerful magnetic field also helps protect planet
  • Core of iron and nickel
  • Water not originally at surface but brought there by geological activity
  • Just one moon
  • Tilts on its axis which gives rise to the seasons
  • Geologically active
  • Few impact craters these, are changed by geological processes
  • Oxygen in atmosphere created by plants i.e. photosynthesis

How it was made:

This planet has been re-created here out of recycled blue plastic and recycled green circuit boards by the artist Rachel Rosen and pupils from Secondary School Ysgol y Moelwyn, Blaenau Ffestiniog, to represent the human impact of pollution and technology on Earth.
