7. Wranws / Uranus

Wranws

  • Mae Wranws yn gawr iâ gyda chrib rhewllyd cul a lloerennau ‘bugail’
  • Mae’n troi mewn ffordd ryfedd gydag echel lorweddol sy’n golygu ei fod yn rholio fel pêl ar yr haul, felly nid oes ganddi nos a dydd fel planedau eraill.
  • Gyda’r eithafion mwyaf o oerni yng nghysawd yr haul, yn mynd i lawr i -224 °
  • Mae’n cymryd amser un bywyd dynol i’r blaned gylchdroi o amgylch yr Haul (84 bl)
  • Nid oedd yn hysbys i seryddwyr hynafol gan fod angen telesgop i’w gweld
  • Gyda chylchoedd rhewllyd cul a lloerennau bugail
  • Enwyd ei lleuadau ar ôl cymeriadau yn nramâu Shakespeare.
  • Oherwydd y symudiad, mae un o’i phegynnau yn y tywyllwch am hanner y flwyddyn
  • Enwyd ar gyfer y duw Groegaidd Ouranos
  • Mae ganddi atmosffer uwch o hydrogen a heliwm, ond hefyd mantell rewllyd o fethan
  • Mae’n bosib bod ei chylchoedd a symudiad anghyffredin wedi eu hachosi gan wrthdrawiad
  • Mae gan y blaned graidd o greigiau a chylchoedd rhewllyd
  • Wranws, y blaned gyntaf i’w darganfod yn y cyfnod modern. Arsylwodd Syr William Herschel, seryddwr amatur, ar y blaned ar Fawrth 13eg 1781 o dŷ teras ym Nghaerfaddon.

Sut y cafodd ei gwneud:

Mae Wranws yn blaned nwy rewllyd gyda chylchdro anghyffredin a chylchoedd gwan o iâ, felly fe’i gwnaed o blu, ffoil, rhwyll a gwydr. Gwnaed Wranws gan blant Ysgol Dolbadarn, Llanberis gyda’r artist Rachel Rosen.

Uranus

  • Uranus is an ice giant with narrow icy ridge and ‘shepherd’ satellites
  • It spins in a strange way with a horizontal axis which means it rolls like a ball sideways on to the sun, so it doesn’t have night and day like other planets.
  • Has the greatest extremes of cold in the solar system going down to -224°
  • It takes one human life time for the planet to orbit the Sun (84 years)
  • It was unknown to ancient astronomers as it needs a telescope to see it
  • Has narrow icy rings and shepherd satellites
  • It’s moons are named after characters in Shakespeare’s plays.
  • Because of this motion one of its poles is in darkness for half of the year
  • Named for the Greek deity Ouranos
  • There is an upper atmosphere of hydrogen and helium but also an icy mantle of methane
  • It’s rings and unusual motion possibly been caused by a collision
  • The planet has a core of rock and icy rings
  • Uranus, the first planet to be discovered in modern times. Sir William Herschel, an amateur astronomer observed the planet on March 13th 1781 from a terraced house in Bath.

How it was made:

Uranus is a frozen gassy planet with an unusual rotation and faint rings of ice, so it has been made from feathers, foil, mesh and glass. Uranus has been made by children from Dolbadarn School, Llanberis with the artist Rachel Rosen.
